Projetor advice

Hi everyone, I'm new around here but I hope someone will help me out. I am looking to find a projector that will be used for movies and video games. I have also heard that instead of getting an actual screen you can get a particular paint to coat a wall and it will be just like a screen.

Any help or insight would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

What is your budget?

The best deal dollar for dollar in digital projection right now is the Mitsubishi HD1000U. 720p HD DLP for only $899 at Projector People. You might be able to find it for as low as $850 shipped. Only a few years ago 1024x768 4:3 DLPs likes the Optoma HT1100 were selling for about $3,500+, so today's units are incredible deals.

If you want to save a little money look into a Mitsubishi HC900U or an Infocus IN72. The Mits is 1024x576p and the IN72 is 854x480p. These two can be had for $500-$700 (the cheaper one being the IN72).

If you want to take another step up in quality the next step would be the Mitsubishi HC3000U for under $1,400 at Amazon.com. The HD1000U is brighter, but the HC3000U has deeper blacks, a bit better colors and better contrast.

It's hard to beat the bang for the buck of the under $900 units though. Only CRT projection can do that.

I'm happy with my HD70 I got at Christmas. Should be able to pick up at $800-$850.

thanks for the reply guys. my budget is around $1000-$1500 Canadian. Not sure if you guys were talking in USD or CAD.

my main concern is clarity and sharpness for video gaming.

And from the looks of it is Mitsubishi the best brand?
