Any experts on BluRay recorder/player/projector set-ups?

Hello -

I'm looking for some help with a sort of complicated home theater tech problem; maybe someone here can lend some expertise. I apologize that this is partially a production problem, but I've found this board to be much more knowledgeable about theater issues than the Apple boards.

I've got an HD program on a Mac computer with a resolution of 1400x1050. I need to project the show onto a screen at the same resolution. Can anyone recommend:
• a software for burning BluRay from Mac (will Toast 8 work?)
• a Mac burner (is this the only one: http://www.mcetech.com/blu-ray/ )
• a solid, no frills BluRay player
• a projector that will handle 1400x1050 (or higher) rez

Thanks!

So, are you saying your movie is 1400x1050, or are you just talking about your monitor? Because you don't need to match the monitor resolution exactly. And you can't, anyway. All Macs today (except the Mini) allow for a 2nd monitor, which can be whatever resolution you want, up to a certain point, depending on the video card. Also, that res is a 4:3 res, won't match up to an HDTV.

Your HD projector options are 1280x720, 1920x1080, 1366x768. The 720 models start under $1000, the 1080 models start just under $5000. I think high-end CRT projectors can match 1400x1050, but I wouldn't waste a CRT PJ as a PC monitor.

All the BD players available are "no frills" players since none of them can even fully handle the new technology, yet. Or do much with a DVD. So take your pick.

That may be the only BD burner so far. And yes, you want Toast 8.
