Noob questionn about patching HDTV -- Hiatchi 42HDS69

Just wondering about this. I read a review of the Hitachi 42HDS69 where a user mentioned writing to Hitachi about the color issue and they sent him a patch/fix (presumably on disc). How do you go about installing something like that? Do you just use whatever dvd player is hooked up to your tv and it automatically patches the firmware for the TV? -- I wasn't even aware that TV's had programming like that.

thanks

Different devices handle it differently. Some may have some sort of data port (serial). I think in the Hitachi case, there is a slot for a SD card and it is updated using that.
