Playstation 3 Cables Question?????????

I recently bought a PS3 off ebay. I have a TV that is not a year old and is high def and everything. I need to know what cables to buy before it gets here so I can set it up for superb quality. Do I just need an hdmi cable? Do I just need the Component Cables with the 3 Video plugs? Do I need both? Please let me know.

Buy whatever cable your TV can support. If you have HDMI outputs, buy that. If not, get component.

Buy them at www.monoprice.com and save yourself some money.

I'm no PS3 expert, but I believe for everything other than HDMI, you need a PS3 A/V cable since the PS3's output is proprietary. Is that not correct?

I know it has an HDMI out, so any old HDMI cable (like from the aforementioned www.monoprice.com) should work.

I was not aware of the proprietary format, but it makes sense, as all consoles are that way.

Get an HDMI cable from that site listed above.

So the HDMI cable is the only cable I need to hook up to my TV? Also I have HDMI in, not out. Is this correct?

Yes, HDMI carries audio and video. So that should be all you need.

As far as I know, that's exactly what you'll need.

That is exactly what you want if your tv supports it.
