Sigh... whats wrong with my SubWoofer now? (+ Maintanence Question)...
 

Anyone who has seen my threads in this forum know I seem to have alot of problems with my shit. My Sub went out 3 or 4 months ago so I bought a new Sony. It worked great until today when it started flashing on and off. Its like the signal was cutting but the box kept making a clicking noise as if it was bieng turned on and off. The light stayed on though and I have no idea what the problem was. I dont think it was my monster cable becuase I unplugged it and it gave a clear hum to the sub when I touched it with my fingers. When it was going on and off though, there was a clear clicking noise as if the power was getting turned on and off, but like I said the light never went out. Any thoughts?

Whats best when having a subwoofer that has its own on/off switch from the receiver:

Turn on the sub and watch something; leave it on if your going to watch more throughout the day and turn it off only when your done for the day

or

Repeadetley turn on and off your sub as per movie you watch?

I should state we dont watch much TV. When cleaning, cooking, whatever, we'll have a movie or season show on. So you know if we turn it off when were done, itll be turned back on a few hours later.

Sounds like the amp is shot. Sony is not a good brand for speakers. Not even close.

The light probably just means it has power, not that it is working properly.

If the sub has a proper sleep mode, you should just leave it on all the time. Like a computer monitor. I haven't turned mine off in months.

Yea I do the same with my comp, but this thing has no sleeper.

I got sony cause thats what the receiver unit is. Fuck, the amp? So Im gonna have to get a whole new one or hope that we got the insurance for this (got it at Circuit City), but I dont remember.

It ought to have at least a few months worth of warranty.
