Projector issue?

I got a Toshiba projector recently (play DVDs through it) and sometimes during fast movement (especially in black/dark areas of the picture, I see sort of a red/green/blue effect. I can also see it if I refocus my eys. Is this natural for a projector or is there something wrong?

That is called Rainbow Effect, or RBE. It is an inescapable artifact of single-chip DLPs for some people. Other people never see it at all. Both front and rear projector DLPs have this issue. Your eyes will see it less and less over time, but it probably will never go away. A workaround is to train yourself to be a couch potato and quit moving your eyes and head around. Or use a different technology than single-chip DLP.

Also, if the DLP color wheel is faster, there is less RBE. Any idea what speed yours is?

I cant find DLP in the manual. It does say it is 1 chip DMD if that means the same as DLP.

Yes. DMD is the name of the mirror system like in TI's commercials with the little girl, but the marketing name of the whole concept is DLP.

DLP: Digital Light Processing
DMD: Digital Micromirror Device
TI: Texas Instruments
