Speaker Mount Questions

Are speaker mounts universal? I have an onkyo system, the speakers have a cut out to hang directly onto a wall and a grooved hold to screw in a mount. I also went to the basic stores to see prices for speaker mounts to the wall, and it was nearly $90 for a set of 5. Anyone know a good place to get them online?

Not all of them are universal, some claim to be, but it really depends on the speaker. $18 each is actually not horrible, mounts aren't cheap. I think I paid $30 each or something for the 2 I use.I got somewhat unusual ones, though. Either direct from the mfgr or a distributor.

Because of their good prices, I usually check J&R before buying at Best Buy or similar places. Don't know of a store that has great deals on mounts specifically.

Depending on how hidden everything will be and you don't want to spend a lot, get creative. I hung both my CC channel and Projector using plumbers piping. My PJ mount probably cost a total of $12.00 and my CC mount $2.00 to $3.00.

For the CC I ended up covering the long pips in platic conduit wrap. The PJ mount you couldn't see at all, so no big deal.

I used these to mount my screen, but I think they make smaller ones

Or you might just walk around Home Depot or Lowes and see if you can get "creative".
