Connect speaker wire to wall plates????
How?? I want to make sure i get this right the first time...
I'm running 14 guage in wall to a 7.1 wall plate. How do you terminate the wire? Does it just get stripped, go into the hole and get clamped down by the screw? Or is some sort of connector needed? any help would be appreciated.. thanks |
did you buy the wall plate yet? its pretty easy once you look at it, but your assumption is pretty much right.

Yep, that's where I ordered them from. I hooked em up and they look good. I guess i was overcomplicating the matter on the connections. Thanks for the help!!

This is what I used at the "receiver" end,
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-...0/P3090009.JPG I actually picked this up at Home Depot. This is a neat customized system. I use it for 6 speakers, but you could have also put in components, etc. In my case, the hole you see to the left is for component and composite inputs. If you look near the rear wall, you will see the "speaker" end. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-...0/P3100027.JPG At the speaker end I used a low voltage box, basically is regular electrical box with no back. You can see these orange boxes in both photos. Then I used face plates that had a just a hole in the center. Now my speaker wire was a little thick, so I used a drill to make the hole in the plates slightly bigger. |
