is it possible to hook a regular DVD player to a PC monitor?

I was thinking of doing this and was wondering if it would work?, since most LCD monitor for PCs are cheaper than the HDTV LCD type. I have a standard DVD player that has HDMI out and wondering if you can use a HDMI to DVI cable to connect it to an LCD monitor for PC?
TIA for any inputs!

Should work, assuming it can match resolutions with the player.

Yes, if the scan rates match, how it will look will depend on the player's output resolution and the monitor's resolution. If you put out a 720x480 DVD image it might look pretty small on a 1024x768 or larger monitor.
