Receiver won't turn on...why?

Having some troubles with my receiver from RCA. The red light indicating 'standby' is on, and turns off when I unplug, so power isn't a problem. When I press the button, the receiver makes no indication or reaction. I looked to see if any of the speakers weren't connected and if that could be the problem, but I didn't notice anything. So would anyone have an idea as to why my receiver wont turn on? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Make sure that no wires are crossing, from positive to negative or vice versa. You might have blown a fuse in the receiver, check your manual. That's all the ideas I have others might be of more help.

A short from having a wire touching the back of the unit will usually allow the unit to click on momentarily, but I would double check that.

Try unplugging for several minutes at least, then plugging back in.
