I need help. How do I get the TV to use the surround sound?
Recently we've wired our walls and bought a high def tv. Here are the links to what we have exactly.
Sony HT-6900DP Home Theatre System
Samsung TX-R3079WH
Now currently the reciever is hooked to the composite slot on the tv. The DVD player is plugged in the recivers composite slots.
I'm wondering, How do I get the TV to use the surround sound? And What cables do I need for best possible audio/visual on the DVD player?
Thanks

We do need more info to provide best help. I checked and see the receiver has optical and coax audio inputs so will want to use them for surround sound.
If have cable box, connect via component (or DVI/HDMI if HD box) to TV for video. Connect cable box to receiver via optical or coax input. This does mean will need receiver on to watch TV as cable box not connected for sound to TV.
If using DVD player, connect with component (or S-video) to TV for video. Connect DVD player to receiver via optical or coax input.
Let us know if need any further help.
