HTiB on a budget

My friend is looking for a HTiB for his new house, but the problem is his budget. He is looking for one with 6.1 and around $350.

I did a search on the forums, but I didn't really find anything like what he needs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Try www.avsforum.com. They have a HTIB forum.

I would recomend they Onkyo Ht 680, a 6.1 system w/o DVD player, it comes in either Black or Silver.

Here is the HT-540, which is 7.1, and is $230.

Here is the 680.

$330, plus shipping.

I ordered my onkyo receiver from them, and had very good service.

B&H Photo is good too. Here is a link to their onkyo HTIB stuff.

I got the Onkyo HT780. It was $450 or so, plus I think we got ****** rebates, plus they didn't have it ready on time, so we got 24$ back, plus we got a free ipod dock that i sold for 80 bucks. Quite satisfied with it. The upgraded model, the HT790, is currently on sale at Circuit City for 390 after rebates [before tax, free shipping] and you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere.
With the budget HTiB, you want to stay away from certain brands. They're not necessarily bad, they're just more cheaply made and have worse specs. I think the Onkyo sets are some of the best in reasonably priced, sub-500$ HTiB.
