Just got an LC HDTV is there anything I need to do?

Well I finally got an LCD HDTV its a 27" Westinghouse and was wondering if there is anything I should do to it to get the best out of it? Like are there certain cables I should get? Should I change any of the settings? The cable guy is coming also in the next few days to hook up my digital cable and bring me one of those boxes for HDTV. Will having the box make the picture better when watching tv? Thanks to those who can answer my questions.

You'll want to calibrate it using Avia or Video Essentials. That will calibrate it for DVD playback and will help you calibrate it for TV by seeing what the correct settings will do for the picture.

I just hope, it's not going to be Jim Carrey.

I have an HD box and you'll be able to receive 1080i HDTV. The set itself may make the picture look better on non-HD channels.

The Video Essentials DVD takes you through a set-up process to calibrate the set. It's really just a matter of watching the DVD and following the instructions. I've never used Avia, but I'm pretty sure they both work the same way.
