Question about my Advent HDTV Help please!
Okay,
So I got this Advent HT2751A on clearence about a year ago because I needed a new TV, and this was a good deal for HD. Well now I know this is not a very good HDTV but I am still stuck with it, so I would like to make the most of it... I am however having some problems... When I watch a DVD in Widescreen I have a black bar on the top and bottom, however the top one is smaller than the bottom meaning my picture is not centered... It also will somtimes flicker from dark true black to a bright black color flickering back on fourth between scenes depending on the scene. When I switch to cable I get a picture that is not very good because it is 480, and of course that not good for HDTV... So I mess with the box some and I switched to 1080 just messing with it of course and I got two bars on the left and right... When I put these their I noticed that the bar on the left is far skinnier and bubbles out some so it not perfectly strait... And the one on the right bubbles in some and is far thicker... So what I get from all this is that my picture is not centered on the screen... I did some searching and came up on the service menu, but I have no idea what all that is and do not want to mess with it. So if anyone can help with my picture problems it would be great... One more thing about my TV in general is that their is always some weird thing in the background... I do deguass and it wont change... It looks a little like this and is right in the center... \ ! / \ ! / (000) / ! \ / ! \ Its in the background and just looks like my picture has some interference... ??? Any help their? Thanks in advance and sorry for the 1000 questions... |
Sounds like your tube is dying in about 2 ways at once. Or it just needs some service adjustments. Either way will cost you hundreds, most likely. You could get it checked out for ~$50, most likely, to see if it is actually busted.
Or, it is supposed to have a 1 year warranty. Are you over or under a year? Could that thing you see be something burned-in? Magnetic/gauss issues look like a blob of one color that never changes, unless you pass a magnet by the screen. And when you say it's in the background, that does not sound like a gauss issue, that would be an obvious, in-your-face foreground blob. |
great... I bought an extra year warrenty through Kmart... I think I will call them... It may be magnetic... I will have to see... Thanks for the help...
