110v/50Hz and 120v/60Hz DVD player?

My brother is currently living in Japan, where the power requirements are 110v/50Hz, as opposed to the US standard of 120v/60Hz. My parents want to give him a DVD player as a gift.

Does anyone know of a DVD player that we can get in the US that will operate under both power requirements? The specs in the places I've checked online don't give this information, and even in the stores it's hard to get a look at the back of a machine (and the boxes don't have this info either).

Recommendations will be appreciated.

Most power supplies should cover that range. But you'd have to find that info for each model. Not sure where to find it other than on the back of the units. I'd find a way to turn the machines around at whatever store, I think that's your most reliable source.

Google 50Hz DVD players. You'll find some. The frequency can be a problem with motors run at 5/6 the speed. The tech specs on vendor sites should have power requirements. Panasonic does.
