Should I buy projection or not?

I am looking at purchasing a HD LCD tv, something 42 inch or bigger and I have noticed the projections are cheaper. Would I be smart and buy a projection and if the answer is yes, which ones do you recommend? I am looking to pay anywhere from $1700 to $2500.

A friend of mine said I should just buy a HD CRT tv, would anyone recommend that?

Wow kind of all over the place there aren't you.

Would need lots more info to help norrow down your choices, but I decide how you are going to use this, lighting control, space limitiations, etc. Then do a search or look around about the benefits of each.

LCD projection and LCD flat panel are two totally different technologies. CRT RPTV offers good bang for the buck, but the sets are huge. I recently ditched my mits RPTV for a DLP.

Brian is right - check these sets out in person to see what you like.

I recommend front projection. I rarely even watch my 55" HDTV anymore after having a 9ft screen for such a great price.

I guess it depends on your budget. I know the RP-LCD TV's seem pretty nice, they are not as LARGE as the normal RPTV. If you have the space, RP are good tv's (a lot of people love the picture on them when tuned correctly)

I guess budget/size are issues you need to deal with. You can get BIGGER RP than you could get LCD/Plasma

I went RPTV because it fit in my budget better. I really like my 46" Sony and it only set me back $800. However, I was over at my Uncle's and his new DLP is pretty damn impressive. HDTV really makes a much bigger impact on his TV compared to mine. However, I mostly watch DVDs on my TV and it does a great job at that so I'm happy. Maybe some day I can upgrade, but it will be awhile.
