Bass question
 

I moved my subwoofer from beside the in TV to right next to my sofa and it seems like I get more bass response then when it was across the room. Anyone else have their subwoofer next to where they sit and feel the same way?

Try the corners, they get the best bass response out of a square room when in the corners. I've tried mine behind me, in front of me, next to me, and in the corners. I have one in each of the front corners of the room and it really sounds the best there.

So you have two woofers? I may have to see about doing that.

A good way to position a sub is to put the sub near where you listen. Then walk around the room and see where the bass response sounds best to you. Now switch places with the sub -- that'll be a good place for it.

This is more important with 2 subs since with two subs you can get "dead spots" where the bass response is actually less than it would be if you only used one (due to frequency cancellation).

Your call and your money but unless you have a very large room I would not do this.

You would be better off buying a bigger, better single sub.

True it is personal preference on one or two, and yes you could get the same as two with one good one. And size of room and the size of enclosure are very important. Luckily I have a decent size room, which I was able to build two very large enclosures for two tempests. Sounds incredible

I only have one and have never tried 2. But the consensus of those that have played around with this seems to be that 2 in different locations has better potential, but is a much larger headache to set up. A parametric equalizer like the BFD is almost required if you go to 2 locations for bass. Even if it is one sub and full-range front speakers.

So for many people it's probably better to stick with one.

Yeah i may just get a really big one. I have one of those sony in box home theaters. (not the dream system)

Also, if you move your sub, you need to check out the phasing again. There should be a phast knob on your sub, 0, 90, 180, 270. Play something with lots of bass, like the spaceship entrance to ID4 and the play.. is this better? is this better? back and forth between the phasing.

If you move your sub, you will need to do this again.
