Digital Cable and DVI

Just got A new Samsung 50" plasma and upgraded to an HD-Cable box.....
My question is, will the DVI to HDMI cable make a big difference when it comes to picture quality over the component (RGB)cables I have hooked up now?

Right now the HD channels look good, but I feel they could look better. The analog and digital channels aren't really that clear at all through the component cables.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard yes and no from different sources. Most of the posts I've read on avsforum.com say that there's no noticable difference between the two. You can always do a comparison. I got an DVI to HDMI cable from monoprice for about $20. I, myself, haven't done the comparison yet.

I know I sound like a broken record whenever a DVI/HDMI-Cable question comes up, but make sure that your cable box's DVI output is even working in the first place.

Most cable companies disable the DVI output, for what I assume are for copyright reasons.

GRRRRR!
How do I check to see if the DVI output is working?

I just bought my DVI to HDMI cables for my cable box and haven't been able to get them to work. Decided to see what others might have to say, and I find out that cable companies disable the DVI most of the time.

This just erk's me off if this is what's happening to me and the cable rep is going to get an earful if this is true.

Ok, found out that Charter's Moxi DVR box does put out DVI-D signal. And then researched a little to find out that DVI-D only handles digital signal and not analog.

Wish I could somehow get Charter to get me a DVI-I output, but that would take an act of congress.

For those that want to read an what I found on DVI, here's the link: http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html

And I have not done any business with this company, their article helped me understand some stuff.
