Dvd Recorder that upconverts??????
 
All,

Does anyone know of a good dvd recorder that also upconverts to 720p/1080i via HDMI and/or DVI? I want to get an upconvert player but thought I might as well look at recorders while I am at it. Also, are the recorders still doing only 2.0 sound recording or are they able to do the 5.1 recording now?

Still only 2.0 recording. Probably for the duration. Legal, not technological issues. Use a computer for 5.1 recording.

Upconverters exist, though. Example:

What is interesting to me is that Sony now has a dvd camcorder that will record in 5.1.
