VHS conversion question
What's the conventional wisdom on converting VHS to DVD?
VHS/DVDR dual recorder combo, or a separate VCR and DVDR? Thanks |
Don't think it matters. Unless there is a macrovision issue, in which case you'd need separate units, or know for sure a combo will defeat MV.

My elderly parents evidentally bought a Sony VHS-to-DVD-burner standalone machine over the Christmas vacation, thinking to "convert" their huge VHS collection.
I had to tell them via email that they'd wasted their money on a $500 paperweight--that nearly all commercial VHS tapes are macrovision encoded and that such a machine will only work with home-recorded tapes. Thanks, big media. |
Sony's a waste of money, anyway. Tell them to swap it out for separates and a Sima MV defeater.
