Question about SAMSUNG HCR5245W

Is this a good TV, Im thinking about picking this up next month? Anyone have this or know any info on it. Any good reviews out there on it. I might be slow, but I couldnt find what I was looking for on AVS Forum. Admittedly, Ive only been there a few times so I might not have the navigation thing down over there.

Here are its specs:

$999
52"
CRT Based Projection TV
Built-in HD/Digital Tuner (ATSC?NTSC)
HD Fine Pitch Screen (0.52mm)
Auto Self Focus
Digital auto convergence
Multi-aspect format ratio
1 hdmi/2 hd component ins
3 Line Digital Comb Filter
Auto Pixel Shift Reduces Image Burn-In
Scan Velocity Modulation
V-Chip Parental Channel Block System
Universal Remote Control
30 Watt Stereo Audio System
BBE Sound with 5 Band Sound Equalizer

Does this do 460 720 1080 etc etc LMK the scoop on it.

Thanks in advance

It is only DVI, not HDMI. Don't know if that matters to you.

This is a TV for a person who doesn't want to deal with anything technical, just wants a big 52" TV off the floor at Best Buy. It is not the kind of TV that most AVSers would buy, or too many that go searching on the net for details. Nice that it has an ATSC tuner built in.

None of the specs say what it actually displays. I'm positive 1080i will be the native display, but can't tell if it also has a 480p mode like CRTs used to, probably not. (not many do anymore) It does say it accepts all USA TV input resolutions, so all these will be converted to 1080i, from what I can tell.

I would say a low end TV like this needs a good calibration even more than more expensive CRT sets would. Add $16 onto the price for Digital Video Essentials.

HDMI is a newer form of DVI. It is the home theater "standard" video connection for the near future. HDMI passes digital audio also, DVI does not, at least not for home theater. They can have the same video signal, so all that is needed is a simple adapter if you have to go from one to the other.

Physical difference is DVI has screws to attach the connector, like most large computer connections. HDMI has nothing, which is a little unfortunate.

HDMI would be preferable, but not necessarily a deal breaker since they both pass the same video signal.
