Trouble getting XBox 360 to run at 1080i on my Toshiba 34HF81C HD Ready TV
The manual for my TV (Toshiba 34HF81C) reads that the HD inputs support 1080i.
I have just hooked up my new Xbox 360, and when I choose 1080i output from the Xbox on screen menu, I see a distorted image.
Does my TV require anything additional to see 1080i images from the Xbox, or am I potentuially doing something wrong.
I know that my TV is 4 years old, but I want to get the best possible visuals out of the Xbox 360 as I can.
I've been searching online, and reading tons of FAQs etc ... but have not been able to find an answer. Any help would be great. Thanks

I am using the "Component HD AV Cables" that were included with the Premium system. There is a small switch on the AV port connector that has two options - HDTV or TV - and I have it in the HDTV position.

ALL component video jacks on tv's DON'T support HD (720p/1080i) signals, some will only do (480p/480i)
this *MAY* be your problem... if you have more then one set on the back, make sure that you are using the HD component ones

Okay, I figured it out ... and it was all due to my own stupidity. When you choose 1080i on the Xbox menu, the screen goes black for a moment while it readjusts the signal, and then a menu slides out from the right saying the following "Press X if you can see this." The thing is, every other menu on the Xbox dashboard slides out from the left, so I assumed that it was a left slliding menu that was appearing on the right side of my screen and that this was the result of my TV not seeing the signal properly. I was obviously wrong.
Now I am playing the Xbox 360 @ 1080i.
