LCD TV Recommendations?
 

Looking to get a 26" or so LCD tv, don't want to spend more than $1200. Any good recommendations?

I'm also looking, but I want it for my PC mainly. I'm looking for around a 26" (although, I've seen some lesser brand 32" for the same price)

Any reviews on using these on a PC?

I'd up the price range ever so slightly and pick up a 42" Panasonic plasma for $1500. You can *never* have too big of a screen! Big improvement for just a few dollars more...

Is that EDTV though?

I'm also looking for a similiar TV/PC monitor. I plan on getting mine at BestBuy (so I can use $300 worth of Best Buy Bucks), and I had the Westinghouse 27" in mind that was mentioned earlier.

My one concern is that it doesn't have HDMI inputs (it does have DVI though). Granted, I am a total newbie when it comes to HDTV (and HDMI is not covered in this site's FAQ), but isn't that an important feature?

What is the best resource for a beginner to learn about what features are most important?

Not sure on a resource for that. But, here's a few I look at for LCDs:

Refresh rate. Should be at least 16ms, but faster is better. Most are 12 or better now.
Brightness. Probably should be at least 500 cd/m2 or nits.
Contrast. As high as possible. They look pretty good starting around 500:1, I think.
Viewing angle. Look for over 160 degrees.
Resolution. The 1366x768 models match with a PC better, the 1280x720 match TV better.

HDMI is preferable for simplicity since it can include audio, but DVI should be just as good for video. If it is only DVI, make sure it can handle HDCP over DVI.

I have a Samsung 26 inch LCD that I love. Amazing picture

I noticed Meijer has a Olevia 27" LCD for $699 this week. I wonder if it's any good. When do you think these will REALLY start to drop in price?

I'm looking at the Sony V Series (KDLV-26/32/40-XBR1) for a friend's dad. From what I have read/seen - pretty damn good.

i have the Olevia LT-37HVS just got it yesterday, and while i dont get any HD channels, the set is amazing, i played halo2 for about 2 hours yesterday without any ghosting. and Watched Finding nemo, great colors and great tv for the price.
