Help with Dolby Digitial 5.1/DTS

I have done some research on this site, so I am not just asking blindly even though I am new to this technical area.

I have a DVD player that supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS but does not decode it. The digital audio out is optical.

I want to buy the Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 speakers which has a built in digital decoder (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=9486 ) to plug into my DVD player. It says for DVD players it uses a digital coaxial cable (which is not included).

My question is: If I buy these speakers, will I get true digital 5.1 sound when I watch movies? I used to have the Logitech Z-640 5.1 speakers which were not digital and mixed the audio stream into just stereo (which sucked).

About the cables: Since my DVD players' digital audio out is optical, does this mean that it won't work because the speakers use a digital coaxial cable?

If it will work, could someone suggest a good affordable cable?

Thank you for all your help.

Based on the specs on the link you provided this unit accepts optical, coax, or direct and will decode the signal. Any generic coax or optical cable will do fine.

There are also adapters that can convert Coaxial/Optical audio.
