Looks pretty good. The Onkyo system is one of several that people rave about for the price. And since it is a real receiver and speakers, it makes partial upgrades easy if/when you want to upgrade.

For the price, the TV looks decent. A widescreen would be nicer since they tend to be better made and a bit better HD technology (just comparing HD tubes to HD tubes), but you'd have to add probably a couple hundred to the budget.

If I was trying to do an entire system for $1000, this would definitely be a final candidate.
