my dvd system keeps going into protect mode when i increase the volume,but i'm not turning it up loud

Check your speaker connections and make sure no wires are touching, and then make sure that there is enough ventilation for the unit.

Your DVD or your amp? I had this problem a couple of months ago and found that a lamp cord plug had fallen across the back of one of my speakers and was making a connection between the two speaker wires. As Brian said, make sure all your speaker wires aren't touching.
