Can anyone suggest a good DVD player?
Here's the deal. Today, my computer's harddrive ran out of space, and tonight my DVD player stopped working. Such a great day.
I have a Sony DVP-2350, which I've had for about 5 years, since 2000, I believe. Over the last few months, when discs are placed into it, 50% of the time, I get an error reading "C 13 00" or smiliar. It's been happening more and more, and now all it will read is "no disc". I use it a lot, I'm a big fan of TV season sets, and sometimes it's played 8 hours or more, sometimes only 1-2.
Can anyone suggest a good DVD player, that's not too expensive? Between this and trying to figure out the computer issue, while being a college student as well, I can't afford to spend more than about $300 on a DVD player.
I'd really appreciate any input I could get, before I walk blindly into a store and make a purchase.

Wow!! That's a huge amount for a DVD player. Do you have an HDTV? If not, you probably shouldn't be spending more than about $100. It's been so long since you bought one you are still thinking of 2000 player prices!!

$100 is a good price point for a DVD player these days. Unless you want SACD/DVD Audio playback or upconversion for HD TV you will find several name brand players around $80. For example the Sony NS-50.

Wow, really? I guess I've actually been oblivious to DVD player prices lately. I haven't ever looked at them since mine always did fine. That's a big relief. Thanks for the info.

About harddrive. Why dont you buy dvd-writer? The prices have dropped down owing to the blue ray & dvd-hd so it is high-time to get one and forget about memory shortage. And you can watch your shows on it too ;-)))
As for DVD player I can recommend BBK Players. They support almost all available features of today and dont cost much. Here is a small list of advantages of their:
1) Multiformat - DVD-/+R(w), DVD-Audio, SVCD, VCD, DivX/Xvid, WMA, WMV, MP3, KARAOKE and etc....
1.a) DivX playback - More and more movies are coming in DivX format. You can watch more than 3 movies with high definition quality of sound and video on one usual DVD disc.
2)card flash/sd/mmc support - if you have digital camera or PDA, you can put your digital content to your DVD player and watch them right on your widescreen
3)SPDIF/optical input - yeah, I know you have XBox or PS/2. So, hook your station's outputs to the BBK and enjoy 5.1 amazing sound of gamez/DVDs
4)built-in DTS/SDDS, DD5.1/DDEx, DVD-Audio decoders - no need to buy expensive receivers. Just buy any cheap 5.1 amp and you are ready to go!
5)built-in FM tuner - get sick of movies? turn on your FM and enjoy!
6)price: ~100$
