Recommend an AV switcher

I need a switchbox for my basement TV - something that will take a bunch (at least 4) inputs - if possible of varied kind like composite and s-vhs. More types of inputs a plus, but not a necessity.

It has to be decent quality though!! A lot of the ones I have seen are just pure crap.

If it can switch between formats, a huge plus (like if the tv is hooked up through svhs and the input is composite and still work).

Yes i know they are crap formats, i use HDMI, DVI and other nice stuff on my 'real' tv we're talking a little gaming and background tv for work here.

Oh - a remote would be neat!

Don't know if this fits your needs but the one I mentioned here from Best Buy has 4 inputs for RCA, I think only one S-video, can't remember if there's anything else.

the Pelican one works very well. And now comes with a remote.

8 Component inputs
8 Composite
8 S-Video
3 Optical
3 Ethernet

Goes for $100. I have the non-remote one and hope to get the new one in the future. So if you just want one for gaming/spare tv this can't be beat.

I want to upgrade so if you want to make an offer on mine, feel free. Still have the original packaging/paperwork and everything. Brand new condition.

Here's a link to another discussion on the Pelican with a lengthy review and also some other alternatives.

You might want to consider an inexpensive A/V receiver for a longer term option if you can afford it now.
