Cyberhome portable DVD player, worth $99?

I had to run thru Kmart on my lunch break, and the front display glass of electronics had a Cyberhome portable DVD player for $129 with $30 MIR. I believe it was a 7" 16x9 screen. I know it's not a great brand, but for hundred bucks, do you think it would be worth it? Sorry I didn't grab the model number, but I'm hoping just the brand name would get me an answer anyways.

thanks!

I have a 7" Malata/Wanlida portable, which is just another low-end Chinese brand, as far as I can tell.

The image quality is barely acceptable (it's sharp and clear, but the color rendition sucks). But otherwise it performs pretty well; it plays MP3 CDs and DVDs, all my burned discs, JPs, pretty much everything. I use it daily (it's my music player in the bedroom, so it gets an hour's use every night), and it's traveled with me twice, hooked up to motel TVs or running on battery in the airplane.

I've had it since December, so far it's been reliable, and I don't regret the $140 it cost me.

I'd say take some discs to the store and try it out. Be sure to take a variety of types of DVDs: widescreen anamorphic and letterboxed, film- and video-sourced, etc., as well as any home-brewed media you might want to play.

Assess the PQ, make sure it plays the formats you need it to play, and sure, why not?

Check Amazon -- CYBERHOME CH-LDV 700B 7" Widescreen Portable DVD Player. User reviews are so-so. Glitchy hardware, screen and battery problems, etc.

Better to get a quality uni tfor a few more $$ that you will enjoy watching and have no problems. Sasung and Panasonic make the best-looking screens imo.
