What's up with the Pioneer DV-588A?
From what I recall Pioneer slacks a lot when introducing new players. This one reads Divx files, along with SACD and DVD-Audio, and is supposed to be released in april. IT would appear however this DVD player is still nowhere in sight. Remembers me a lot of the DV-563A and then the DV-578A releases, and other old models. Damn Pioneer!
Anyone got more info? Here is the press release, I eagerly await the player.

Damn thanks for letting me know of this player, I spent the last couple hours looking it up and it looks like a wonder! I think I am going to order it after I see reviews of the Pioneer DV-588A. There is one thing I would like to know, tough; how's the durability and long-term reliability? That's very important to me, it looks pretty nice tough.

Absolutely no idea but it seemed to have a lot of problems when it first came out that were fixed with firmware updates. That could be taken either way as bad or good I guess. I too am waiting still though. If the pioneer street price is only around $125 that is a good percentage cheaper and I would have an easier time getting a receiver remote to know pioneer code than "oppo".
