New TV tech?

I thought I read a while back on my yahoo home page about a new tech for tv displays. Something like Plasma but better and cheaper. Was I only hoping this was true or am I right? If I remember right it was still being worked on and not out yet.

Thanks in advance.

Probably liquid crystal on silicon (lcos). Lots of companies have tried, but so far none have been able to make displays with this, without it costing like 1,000 times as much as they thought it would cost. So yes, it is probably still being worked on, and is not out yet, and probably won't be out anytime soon, if ever.

Actually, there are several LCOS TVs on the market. But yeah, they're expensive.

I think I found it. Anybody have any info on surface-conduction electron-emitter display, or SED.

i wouldnt wait around for stuff like that though, could be a while before it gets cheap enough for normal people,

lcos is pretty cheap now, i ordered a 61 inch jvc for 3195, that is cheaper than i thought it would be, and thats the new one that wont be out for a couple weeks

I think before spending that kind of money I'll wait for a technology with less flaws.
