I think 30" WS is pretty small. What kind of TV do you have now? My philosophy is: If money is tight, save it to get what I really want. So maybe if you save for a year you can afford a big 60" HDTV or something.

However, I don't know your situation. I just think 30" WS is small and if money is tight I wouldn't be happy looking at a 30" WS TV thinking, "I spent $750 for this?

If you save and save, even if it takes several years (yes, years), you will love it and be smiling everytime you watch something.

Unfortunately, it seems these days people have no concept of saving money for longterm satisfaction. I guess it's the easily available credit.

People also have no concept of being satisfied with what they have or what is within thier means. I would not save for years for a TV nor would I purchase one on credit. I have a 52" DLP. I could have saved a few months and bought a nice plasma but $8000 for a TV is just does not make sense for me.
