Up-Conversion Choice?
Hello:
I have an extra set of component video jacks on my TV (the other set hooked up to my SONY DVD recorder). I was interested in buying an up-conversion DVD player for the extra row of inputs. [B]What's the best DVD player that upconverts using component video in addition to HDMI? I know that HDMI gets the best picture but I don't want to go overboard and invest in an HDMI hub for an extra $300.00 or so. Thanks! |
Sounds like you may want to check out a Zenith DVB318 with the older (Dec. 2003/March 2004 -- July 2004 and later units apparently have the new firmware with macrovision-protected component video output) firmware.
Edit: Saw these guys mentioned over at AVS as having the 318 in stock and providing good customer service (I'd never heard of them, bought my 318 from Gochnauer's): Zenith DVB318 for $159.95 I would recommend contacting them to see if they still have available units with the older firmware (if you want to use component output, which it seems you do). |
Original firmware and region hack can be found through this thread
I'm assuming this means it doesn't matter what date code you get. |
The Momitsu over at HKflix also does upconversion on the component out.
