Pioneer DV-275-S vs Sony DVP-NS575PB Either of these Region free capable?
Looking to get my father-on-law a dvd player for Christmas and I've narrowed it down to the following, Pioneer DV-275-S vs Sony DVP-NS575PB. Anyone have any experiences with either of these players that they could share?
Also, are either of these units region free capable? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have no idea about those particular models but Sony in general is not able to be made region free without some electronics work (if even then). It might have something to do with their owning movie studios.

I can answer the region-free question.
The Pioneer needs to be reprogrammed via an IRDa port:

The Sony will need a chip-mod as X posted.
