I couldn't resist the $20 rebate at a local Good Guys, so I did it. It'll be only $50 after rebate. The image quality is great so far, and the added formats are pretty nice.

I've had mine for about 6 months, since my Philips 727 went on the fritz. I haven't had any problems yet, and the picture looks nice enough for the price.

Yeah, I noticed the picture looks as good as a DVD player I bought about 4 years ago, which was 20 times as much. It would be nice if Philips would make a carousel version of the 642. In fact, I'd buy two more of these 642's but the remote wouild be useless I would assume--unless of course you like 3 trays opening and closing at the same time.
