How are Samsung Sub-$1000 HDTVs?
I'm looking to buy a low-priced HDTV that has a built-in HDTV tuner? I was wondering if the models from Samsung are worth buying as I've seen a number of models ranging from 26" to 30" that sell for $1,000 or less.
Also, they have widescreen models that may be ideal for DVD viewing, but how are they for HDTV and non-HDTV telecasts as well as for videogames. Are the images stretched out in any way making regular TV viewing uncomfortable?

I just got the 27" Samsung. I decided to get the Standard screen since the widescreen view is only an inch smaller than the 26" widescreen Samsung for the same price. It's a little fuzzy up close with regular cable, but from about 15 feet away it can look very smooth. Progressive scan is very nice, though i have occasionally noticed some interlacing on one DVD when there is a lot of action on the screen, though it may just be the player or the DVD itself. I haven't had a chance to try HDTV yet, since I don't have an antenne.

Thanks for the info, Jak140.
After doing some more research, I guess I agree it's better to go with the 27 inch Standard as opposed to the 26" Widescreen. I think that watching non-HDTV broadcasts with the stretched out image is not too appealing to me.
So if you have cable, you can't pick up HDTV broadcasts even with the built-in tuner?
If you encounter any more good/bad points as you use the TV, let me know. I'm still deciding whether or not to get one. It's probably the only HDTV I can afford for the time being, and I like that it has a built in HDTV-tuner.

For the past couple of months I have been tempted to check out Samsungs 30" Widescreen CRT tv - for the price it's very tempting. Need to do some more research on it, but damn it would be nice to be able to watch my dvds on that rather than my 27" Trinitron.
