How close should speakers be to the TV?
Hey all,
I'm just wondering how close the left and right speakers should be to the TV. Mine are shielded but I wanted to know how much space one should leave between the TV and the speakers for proper sound. |
Well the farther apart the larger the sound field will be. Obviously you do not want them 20 feet apart, but 1 to 3 feet from the sides would be ideal with the center as close to the image as possible.

I recall reading somewhere (can't remember, one of them "techie" audio rags) that a 6' minimum L/R speaker separation is needed for proper stereo soundstaging. I would interpret that to mean simply as "no closer together than 6 feet" - which leave plenty of room in between for however you want to space the display device.

I'm thinking about replacing my SHARP CD-DD4500 with a RCA HTS-6000, and the L/R speakers on it, I think and hope will fit just to the sides of my 32" Sony Flatscreen. I need to take a tape measure down to the store to check dimensions. |
