X1 Component to VGA connector problems

I just received the component-to-vga connector for my InFocus X1 yesterday and tried to hook up my DVD player to the projector.
Nada. Tried the same thing with the XBox HDTV-pack. Finds nothing. The projector says it is searching for a source and can not find one.

If I hook the projector up to my desktop PC (VGA-to-VGA), it finds the source immediately. So I can rule out a physical problem with the projector's input. And the component cables definitely feed a signal into my Replay.

Are there some special settings I need to set on the projector, or should it automatically recognize the signal from the DVD player/XBox? Or did I likely get a faulty connector?

I just want to check before going through the hassle of returning the connector.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, I have an X1, and the component to VGA adapter, and it works fine on mine, didn't have to change any settings.
