Need small subwoofer
For a cabin where the tv, receiver, three (of five) speakers plus a dvd must be relegated to a cart pushed into a closet when not in use, I need a small subwoofer to add to the cart.
Something like an 8" speaker but not over about 12" high. Any suggestions? Thanks |
Unfortunately small subs usually aren't that good. The parts express sub is the smallest that I have heard anyone recommend but its 12-5/8" W x 16-7/8" H x 15-5/8" D .
The next best bet would be a computer speaker system but you already have a receiver and speakers so that doesnt make much sense. |
I know I won't get a great sub but the system only gets used about 20 weekends a year or so. Not many solutions here.
My problem is space. The wife wants the whole setup (except for the rear speakers) to be able to disappear into the closet! :( |
The smallest PSB sub is around 14" tall, and I'm sure is pretty decent. Not sure if they ever made a smaller one. Not sure if Energy or Paradigm have something smaller.
I'm sure this one by Aperion is at least OK (and seems to be 13" tall), and you should be able to find reviews on the web. HTD makes a very inexpensive 13.5" tall model, as well as a slightly taller (14.1"), more expensive model. |
That little HTD sub might just work, thanks!

Screw budgets. 13 in³. 116dB of brain melting bass. 2750 Watts of electronic mayhem. All distributed in a whopping audio spectrum from 16 Hz to 100 Hz. Your neighbors will hate you. Astronauts will see the shockwaves from space. |
