$1000 bucks to spend on Widescreen HDTV...
I would like a 30, 32, or 34 if possible best HDTV Widescreen for around $1000 bucks. Any good deals on the best for that amount out there right now?
Thanks in advance. |
Walmart has a Sanyo 30 widescreen HDTV with an intergrated tuner for $799.00. They also have a 32 non-widescreen version of the same set for the same price.
I've seen both of them and they are quite impressive. Also, Sanyo apparently is one of the more reliable brands according to Consumer Reports... |

Are you picking that size because of your price constraints? Or because you really would prefer something in the 30-34" range?
I ask because if you are willing to scratch up an additional $200 or so, you could get the 46" Toshiba 46H84, which is a fantastic new set. And, obviously, the size difference will be pretty noticable. ;) |

My friend has one, I should have one in about 3 weeks. I don't see the white line on the one I played with... some people over at Home Theater Spot say that they've seen it on the new set, others say they haven't.
:hscratch: |
WOW! That Toshiba 46H84 looks like a great set! I've been looking at Toshibas for a few weeks now and I think that one looks like the one to buy. Are there any B&M stores that sell it? The best online price I could find is at Etronics.com.
Although, I guess it's still not safe to play an X-Box on projection sets, right? Anything else I should consider before buying a projection set? |

Brightness isn't the problem the contrast being set too high is.

I saw rhe Phillips as well. Didn't look bad at all. But the intergrated tuner seals the deal for the Sanyo in my opinion.
Check out the first link above which is the AVS Forum. The people there seem to love it.. |
I know nothing about Akai. I'm just throwing this out there.
Yesterday at Costco, I received yet another flyer of coupons good from August 9 through 15. Listed is a 47" Akai Widescreen HDTV Monitor (item #782879) warehouse price: 999.99 coupon: -100.00 your cost: 899.99 + tax Also next week, from the coupon book is a Phillips 30" widescreen tube for $599.99 (699.99 before coupon). I own the previous model of this 30" set and it works beautifully in my bedroom. |

My home theater is in the bedroom and that TV would work great there. |

Okay, took the first step to getting this puppy. I put it on layaway and will have it in a few weeks. Unfortunately, I forgot I had car insurance and registration so couldn't quite get it right now.
Anyhoo, I picked out the 30" Sanyo HD Widescreen model. It's now $747... $804 out the door. Anyone else here get this? |
