Problem W/ Philips DVD 727 (No Picture)

My Philips DVD player model (DVD727) is used very little and less than 6 months. While watching last night the picture went blank, but the sound is still functioning. I tried doing everyting reading the manual changing AV cables but still the same. Anybody have the same problem. Help please!!!

You may have inadvertantly put the 727 into Progressive Scan mode which will blank out the S-Video and Composite outputs. Video is output from ONLY the Component Cables when in Progressive Scan mode. To take the player OUT of progressive Scan mode simply do the below:

1. Open Disc Tray (keep it open).
2. Press the "< " key on the remote.
3. Then press the "Mute" button on the remote.

I think there was a thread going on a while ago at avsforums.com with someone having the same problems you did and I wrote the directions down for future reference or if someone else needed it. I guess it was worth writing down now that it helped you.

Take it easy!
