Question on Recordable DVD discs
I am thinking about possibly purchasing a DVD recorder- I did have one concern, I have heard that it's best to purchase the -R Disc's over +R, RW. The reason is because the -R disc's play on the majority of the DVD players out there- Is this true?
Also if anyone has a DVD recorder and records on to -R disc's, Do you go through more than one disc for each recording if there is a problem with the Disc's.
I have a Region free DVD player, and a Dish DVR- I am just wondering is there that much content out there that if I really want it, I could just purchase the pre-recorded DVD and not bother recording on DVD? and how is the picture quality on the transfer to DVD?
What are other peoples opinions?
Thnx-

DVD+R Question
I've heard that not all DVD players will play DVD+Rs. Does anybody know where I can find out what players will play DVD+Rs? I just recorded some stuff for my father for Father's day and when we tried playing it on his player, a low end GE model, it played at about 90% speed, rather than 100%. My first gen Toshiba couldn't even read the disc. The recordings were done in HQ. Don't know if that would have any affect.
Thanks.
Thanks.
