Need suggestions: LCD TV for Kitchen

so my wife wants a small LCD TV for the kitchen, and hell, who am i to argue? ;)

- is there anything out there smaller than 15"? that seems to be the smallest i'm seeing.

- brand/price? i'm mostly seeing 15" sets in the $600 range.. BB & CC have a 15" with built-in FM Tuner for $600 this week (free $50 GC @ CC)..

- anything else i should know? i'm really just starting to look at these for the first time..

we'll be hooking up a DTV receiver to it. thanks in advance.

I just ordered a 15" Samsung LTN-1535 (enhanced definition) LCD from J&R for $479.00. Link

It was $599.00 @ Circuit City, Sears and Target. Mine will be used in the kitchen as well.

J&R has a Sharp Aquos 13" (standard definition) LCD available.

Try to get a widescreen version. You won't be sorry.

we ended up going with the 15" Philips with built-in FM tuner. it was $549 at CC, but also had a $50 merch card MIR, so that works.. can't wait to set it up in the kitch!

mkdevo:

That's a nice LCD that you bought! I considered it but couldn't pass on the Samsung.

As for the set (your Philips & my Samsung) being 4:3 ratio, I'll personally be moving mine to a guest bedroom or bath in a year or two anyway, so that didn't really weigh in as a negative. I didn't need a 17" just to have a 16:9, especially for the price difference.

I replaced my old Sony 8" Trinitron (KV-8AD20) TV that I bought in 1989 with the Samsung LCD. The Sony still has an awesome picture, it was just taking up too much room on the kitchen counter & does not look as cool. I don't know what to do with it now though, maybe eBay it.

x - interesting...

all - what would be the benefit to getting a 16x9 for a tv this small? dvd? obviously wouldn't hook up an HD receiver to it in the kitchen.. but i wouldn't put a DVD player in the kitchen either..

just curious...

I've seen various brands with different size screens like that one too.

I see no benefit to 16x9 in a small kitchen set. I have a 20" and on the rare occasion we watch a DVD on it we use its 16x9 squeeze mode (or you can use conversion in the player).

Which LCD TV should I get for my kitchen?

What would be a good LCD tv for my kitchen? I want the TV to be at least a 13" to 17" TV

What does everyone recommend?

Here are the TV's I was looking at..

Sharp AQUOS™ 15" LCD Flat Monitor - LC15B4US

Sharp AQUOS™ 13" ASV LCD Panel - LC13E1UW

Sharp AQUOS 13" ASV LCD Panel - LC13B4US

Panasonic 14" LCD TV - TC14LA2

Panasonic 17" LCD TV - TC17LA2

Or if you want to recommend another one then go ahead. I really didn't want to spend more the $600.00

i am kind of leaning toward this one : (Sharp AQUOS™ 15" LCD Flat Monitor - LC15B4US)http://www.abtelectronics.com/script....php3?id=13196

However the 14" panasonic seems nice/

How about this TV? Magnavox 15MF200V 15" LCD Flat Panel TV

what benefits would a widescreen version have. They are not capable of HDTV and I doubt hes going to have a DVD player connected to it in the kitchen. So what would be the benefit besides stretching the OAR of normal TV.

Cool find. Better not show it to my wife! She wants a TV in the kitchen as we are compeletly remodeling it. But she recently made the comment that maybe she didn't as she did not want to take up cabinet space. Sweet. Maybe a good B-day gift for her!

I could not resist posting this. I might even have a hard time justifiying this, but it's pretty cool nevertheless.
