Question about component cables?
 

i have the accoustic research component cables and sometimes esp when there is big sound scene (where my sub makes some noise), at least i think this is the case, where my colors get distorted. most notably all the red becomes yellow. if i move the cable a little it will temporary fix it until the next big sound. anyone else have this problem or know what it is/how to fix it? thanks.

Seems like you have a loose cable connection or a loose input on your receiver/DVD player. Hopefully, it's the connection!

i have tried to adjust the connections. any other ideas? i appreciate the thought tho. i will try to adjust again and see if that fixes it.

Does this happen when you try s-vid or composite?

How close are the speakers and sub to the TV? Are they magnetically shielded?

they are pretty close....less than a foot i would say. the speakers are magnetically shielded.

i have my ps2 hooked up via s-video, never had it happen w/this. never tried the dvd player w/s-video since i dont have a cable. didnt have any problems using the yellow, red, white (composite?) cables.

Probably not the Sub. If I were you, I would move the sub at least 6-10 feet away from the TV (or even further, like in a corner). The EM field generated by the voice coil in the sub when some low frequency information is reproduced is exactly what is causing the distortion.

If the color distortion is NOT continuos then it is NOT magnetic interference from speakers being to close. Speaker interference is constant and not something that comes and goes with louder or soft sounds as you describe. Don't bother moving the speakers.

As others have suggested check very closely all three component cables on both ends of the wires. They should be on pretty firmly but if any seem loose just take it off and push the outter edges in slightly to create a tighter fit.
