DirecTV HD Receiver
Hi,
A while back at the Tivo Community Forum, people were talking about getting a HD receiver from DirecTV for $99. Now, my receiver (DTS-100) has pretty much bit the dust, and I want the upgrade. Does anyone here know how to get that deal?
The people at the Tivo Community Forum are too far over my head to ask any questions, so I would appreciate hearing from one of you.
Thanks!

From avsforum
You have to have been a customer in good standing for 2 years and spend at least $50/month on programming to qualify.
There is an 800 number to call on avsforum to contact the department that can do this.
here is a direct number to a customer retention person
1-800-600-8977
Quoting from
AVS
Here's what they did for me through the customer retention department:
I buy receiver for $399 + $14.95 shipping/handling + tax = $452 approx.
I agree to keeping DirecTV for 2 years
I agree to the HDTV Package for $10.99/month for one year
They credit me $300
They credit me $10 per month for 6 months on my total choice package with locals and give me Showtime for 3 months free.
I've been a DirecTV subscriber for over 4 years but on 12/24 I signed up with Comcast Cable to get some HDTV shows (football) for a couple of months since they were running a deal. Now I can compare all three. Thanks avsforum!

You'll have to pay but don't overlook that the DirecTivo for HD will be or should be released soon. So if you can't always catch what's on HD and need to timeshift HD programming it may be worth paying more for. I know that's what I'm waiting for.

I've been with DirecTV for just under a year and I got the HD receiver for $199. Not as good as $99, but still better than buying it from anywhere else.
I'm going to wait until later this year to get an HD-Tivo due to the pricetag. Hopefully DirecTV will offer an upgrade package.
