Recommendations?
 

I am currently using a Daewoo DVD 5800, which is an exceptional machine that has a region-free hack, plays PAL as well as NTSC DVDs, and allows Macrovision to be shut off. Unfortunately, when it converts PAL discs with anamorphic widescreen, the conversion is not in the proper aspect ratio, and the picture is rather distorted. Also, it will not play DVD-R or DVD+R discs. Can someone recommend either a DVD player or a DV Recorder that is dual-format, capable of being made region-free, plays PAL discs in the proper aspect ratio, and will play homemade discs? A macrovision hack is nice but not a necessity. Since I am thinking about getting a DVD recorder, I'd like it to have these same features. I would be grateful for any recommendations.
