little bastard alert!
Had a little get together at my house yesterday.. some friends brought their little 2y old terror with them... Well, I completely forgot to put my speaker grilles on so... yep.. you gessed it.. before i knew it the little bastard pushed all the tweeters in on my Polks. Does anyone know how to pull the tweets back out?
I see this on display models all the time.. there has to be a simple way to pull them out.

Disclaimer: I have never done this and I do not endorse doing it.
I have heard of people using various types of tape to gently adhere to the driver and pull it out. I would be wary of residue.
Or try calling Polk
Checkwith the dealer where you purchased your Polk loudspeakers. Most dealers that sell our loudspeakers service Polk speakers. Or you can work with Polk Audio directly to obtain service. Call 1-800-377-7655 during normal US east coast business hours, Monday - Friday, or send us an email.

Scotch tape might do it or you might try a pair of tweezers and see if you can gently grab a fiber or two and pull it out.

Push the kids head through the back of your speaker and pop the tweeter out that way!
Seriously, the vac trick works fine. Just be sure to cup your hand over the driver and allow some air to enter through your fingers so it is not a complete vac.
What did the parents say/do? "oh, were sorry, stop that (childs name)".
What did you say?
I had some neighbors over a while back and they had a little terror like the one you experienced. I told the parents that I was happy to have them all over to visit, but THEY would be responsible for any broken/damaged items and their subsequent replacement! I then proceeded to tell them the cost of my equipment. From that point forward, the "little terror" sat in mommies lap!
No excuse for parents allowing children to behave that way!

Tape is the best bet.
It works great on dust caps on woofers and mids. Tweeters should not push in easy, most have some dampening behind them and the magnet structure is flush with the outer diameter of the dome.
Anyway use tape. Make a ring with the adhesive out. Then rub the tape gently against the pushed in dome. Then with a gentle pull your should be able to pop it out. The problem is any folds or wrinkles will affect the sound.
Really for tweeters the best bet is new tweeters and then attach them yourself.
Charge the kids parents

I would purchase new speakers and charge the unsupervising parents and dump the damaged speakers on them.
They could figure out how to fix them.
Of course I do not allow children in my house so it would not happen to me.
Glad the speakers look fixed. I hope they still sound great.

Well... i never even told the parrents that the kid messed anything up.. there were other people there and i did not want to make a big deal out of it...although the reason i saw it was the Dad saying "..hey - can he screw anything up by messin with the speakers?" Duh.. no he can't... its like his personal playground.. at which point i yelled "hey, get away form there!" which made the kid cry..i can live with that though.
Anyway after i fixed them they sound fine.. so i dont think he did any damage... there isnt even any wrinkles on the tweets. Needless to say i will not be inviting them back anytime soon.
The reason to have the grilles off is that they muffle the sound of the tweets/mids - not much, but you can hear the difference + they look better that way
