Problem with JVC XV-N50BK , XV-N55S
I'm reporting this in hopes that others will take note and perhaps JVC will wake up.
This is a very nice hi-tech looking player with lots of cool features and excellent tolerance of DVDr/rw and other formats. But I was forced to return the one I bought.
It's got one major problem:
When there is motion, especially in slow steady pans, the image tends to jump every few frames. It's more subtle than you might think and it could easily be taken to be normal. But once you notice it, the effect is unmistakable. The same exact scenes played on my older player show smooth fluid motion as it should be without this jumping effect.
I'm guessning it has something to do with memory and compression rates but I'm no DVD tech.
I did some some research and turned up the follwing link. (Be sure to paste in the whole link)
http://reviews.cnet.com/JVC_XV_N55SL...?tag=pdtl-list
There's also a note posted at some product review sites from someone who claims to be the tech who is responsible for this flaw. He says that there is a firmware upgrade disk available from JVC. Do a google search for "JVC XVN50 stutter"
I called JVC customer support but they say they are not aware of any problem with the unit and insist there is no such upgrade disk.....
