pixelization on satellite, could it be a bad cable?

for the last couple days almost all my channels have some pixilization. even the channels which were excellent now show this problem. if the pixilization isn't there, the picture is pretty fuzzy. I don't think it's my tv since all my other sources are fine. my signal strength is 100 on most transponders with the signal in the 80's and 90's on the rest. any ideas?

Check your signal strength via the menu and let us know what it is. Also, you may try a different transponder (also a menu selection).

Let us know!

It could be many things! If your dish is not properly installed it may be swaying in the wind or if it's rainy it could be bad cable, connectors, switches. We need more info to help out.

Is the pixilazation happen on all your receivers? See is it is ocurring on only even or odd transponders.

I have DirecTV. I only have 1 reciever. It is secure. no movement on the dish at all. I know this because it is mounted on my privacy fence and I can easily reach it. it happens at all times;rain, cloudy, sunny, etc. it seems to occur on all transponders.

Try resetting your box.

Turn the box off, remove the card, wait 5 minutes or so. Replace card and power back on.

Could be a bad receiver with a digital decoder not working correctly. Do you know anyone with a direcTV receiver you could hook up to your setup to check if the wiring, connectors, dish are OK or not?

I don't know about DTV we have dish but we had the same problem about a month ago. It turned out to be a cable and switch issue. We were getting "pixellization" as I call it. Like slight rain fade or loss of signal strength. Our cable "was" running under the house. I found a tear in the jacket and inner sleave at a bend. where it had rubbed on the wall. Our switch at the LNB went out the next week. Replaced that as well. We then got the new 811 rec'r. The install person had to run two new lines from the Dish (second TV set-up). When he got up there to connect the cables he wasn't to thrilled with the present cables and the way they were hooked up. The switch was right under the Dish. The current cable connectors weren't "rain tite". He ran new cables and put both switches on the inside of the attic.

We haven't seen any problems since and yes I can see a difference.Don't know if this helps. If not try over at the www.DBStalk.com forum.
