I'm thinking about getting a DVD recordable so I can copy tv shows and play them back on my PC.

To be clear, the dvd player will be hoked up to a tv and the dvd disc played back on my PC.

Has anyone gotten a dvd recordable unit and played back the recording ontheir PC with close captions?

Are you just looking for ANY way to record the shows so you can play them back on your pc? Or do you really want them on dvds?

b/c if you just want the shows on the pc you can do it much cheaper with a video card with tv tuner built in. (ATI all in wonder etc..)

TV tuners do not copy the captions.
